James O'Neill

James O'NeillAs founding principal, Jim O’Neill set out in 1997 to create a firm that would distinguish itself in three ways. First, it would offer the design creativity of a very large organization—but without the bulk. Second, the new firm would elevate client service and include clients as vital members of the project team. Third, Jim would be actively involved in every project day in, day out. Jim’s three priorities were based on a simple fact: “In the end, these were, and still are, the things that made me wake up glad to come to work.”

The firm has evolved from Architecture + Interiors, to O’Neill Hill and Associates, to the newly launched Inventure Design.

Today, Inventure Design is unlike any other firm in Houston. We create building architecture and interior spaces that are harmonious and beautiful and convert our clients into collaborators. Since people live and work in dual worlds—the physical environment and a technological one—our focus is to seamlessly couple the two.

Over a rich and varied career, Jim has worked with SOM, TAC, 3D/I, and Gensler. Among his landmark projects are the Texas Children’s Hospital Clinical Care Center; The Denver Museum of Natural History, which he designed in its entirety; Burlington Resources; and the technologically complex Williams Communications. Jim is a graduate of both Harvard University and the University of Notre Dame.
